the concept
The photographs that you use to sell your products are your products in the customer's eyes — until they place an order for the real thing. Pictures are the first thing a customer sees, don't you think? Professional photography is heavily used by high-end catalog and jewelry companies not because it makes their products look cool, but because strong photographs produce more orders than "good enough" snapshots.
My job as a product photographer is to bridge the gap between point 'n shoot snapshots and professional-grade product photography.
I'm able to fill that gap with experience, good equipment, and a real motivation to create photographs that get attention. I think of it as pride of workmanship.
the cost
Please let me know by phone or email the scope of your project (how many products you have, how many finished photographs you'll need, that kind of thing) and then I'll give you an estimate. You'll get everything you need for both print and internet marketing.
Note to craftspeople: If you're submitting to juried art shows, I'll also provide special digital files for that. Here's what will be in the box along with your returned product samples:
- A cd of high-resolution digital "negatives" (tiff files) that can be used for any visual project, plus another complete set of jpegs for e-mailing
- For artists submitting to juried art shows, there'll also be a third set of specially prepared jpegs (Zapp-ready and sized at 1920x1920 pixels) for submission to zapplication.org
- You'll also get a complete set of 4x6 prints (Keep them handy for elevator speeches.)
All of my digital photographs are carefully adjusted for maximum visual impact and accurate color.
If you'd like to get started, ship your products by FedEx or UPS, insured for their retail value, or by USPS registered mail. Once I receive them (I'll treat them tenderly) you'll make payment via PayPal for the photography services and return shipping. Your items will be on their way back home within a week, and I'll let you know by e-mail the day I receive them and the day I ship them back. If I get slammed with orders I'll also let you know the revised turnaround time as quick as I can figure it out.
If you have a question or would like to talk about a shoot (or need my shipping address), please send an e-mail or call 415-830-3371.
